Privacy policy

How PlayMVP collects, uses and protects your personal data under the UK GDPR. Last updated 10 October 2026.

Who we are

PlayMVP is a competitive ladder for Call of Duty players. For the personal data described in this policy, PlayMVP is the data controller: we decide why and how your data is used.

This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR.

What we collect

We only collect what the ladder needs to run:

  • Account details: your email address, your password (handled by our authentication provider) and your app role.
  • Playercard: your username, avatar and banner, platform, region, in-game / Activision ID, bio and social links.
  • Competitive records: matches you post or accept, line-ups, map results, submitted result screenshots, XP history, ladder and title rankings, teams and memberships.
  • Social features: friend requests, direct messages and match room chat.
  • Shop records: purchases, entitlements and membership status.
  • Technical data: the basic logs needed to secure and operate the app, such as sign-in events and error logs.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To run your account, playercard, matches, ladders, teams and messages: performance of our contract with you.
  • To keep competition fair, reviewing submitted results and screenshots, resolving disputes and preventing cheating, abuse and multi-accounting: our legitimate interests in protecting the league and its players.
  • To take payment and keep accounting records: performance of a contract, and our legal obligation to keep financial records.
  • To measure how the arena is used, where you have agreed to optional analytics: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To keep the service secure and fix problems: our legitimate interests in running a safe service.

Cookies and similar technologies

PlayMVP uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, run match rooms and remember your cookie choice. These are needed for the site to work, so they cannot be switched off.

Optional analytics cookies are only used if you accept them. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time using the cookie preferences on this page.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal data. We share it only in these situations:

  • Our platform providers: Base44 hosts the app, database, authentication and file storage on our behalf.
  • Payment providers process card payments directly. We never see or store your full card details.
  • Other players: your playercard (username, avatar, platform, region, in-game ID, bio and social links) is public, and your in-match details are visible to your opponents and your team.
  • Moderators and admins: they review submitted evidence and disputes so results stay honest.
  • Legal requirements: we may keep or disclose records where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Account and playercard data: for as long as your account is open.
  • Deleted accounts: your playercard, contact details and private messages are erased, and your competitive records are anonymised so league history stays intact without identifying you.
  • Purchase records: kept for six years to meet UK tax and accounting rules, with your identity removed when you delete your account.
  • Evidence screenshots: kept while a match or dispute is open, and removed with your account.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you can exercise these rights at any time:

  • Access and portability: download a copy of everything we hold about you from Profile, then Privacy & your data.
  • Rectification: correct your playercard details from your own profile whenever you like.
  • Erasure: delete your account and personal data from Profile, then Danger zone. It is immediate and cannot be undone.
  • Withdraw consent: change your cookie choice at any time on this page.
  • Restriction and objection: ask us to limit or stop a particular use of your data, for example a dispute record you believe is wrong.
  • Complaint: you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you came to us first so we can put things right.

Age

PlayMVP is for players aged 16 and over. If we learn that we hold data from a child under 16, we delete the account and the data with it.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on our platform provider's infrastructure, which may sit in the UK, the EEA, the United States or other countries. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Security

Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and never stored by the app. Traffic is encrypted in transit, submitted evidence is stored privately and only shared with the moderators reviewing it, and access to player data is limited to the moderators and admins who need it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your data we update this page, and for significant changes we tell you in the app before they take effect.
